Precision Drilling is Canada's largest drilling contractor with a fleet of approximately 200 drilling rigs, an excellent team of knowledgeable and dependable people and the longest history of drilling horizontal wells in North America. Precision is ideally suited to meet the needs of today's Canadian marketplace and employs a strategy to create value for customers delivering leading drilling technology and exceptional standards of service.
Precision's drilling fleet includes its "Super Series" rigs (PD Super Single, ST-1200 and ST-1500) which are well-known to customers to offer safe, efficient drilling operations as well as rapid rig up and high mobility. Precision offers other specialized drilling equipment well suited to drill the horizontal wells necessary to develop the unconventional resources of the Canadian marketplace. Approximately 150 drilling rigs in Precision's Canadian fleet are either Super Series or high performance drilling rigs that are well suited for drilling horizontal wells. Single and double rigs are generally used in shallow drilling while triple rigs, with more hoisting capacity, are typically used in deeper drilling or longer reach wells.
Precision has the largest operating footprint of any drilling contractor in the Canadian marketplace. Precision's drilling rig fleet is strategically deployed across the most active regions of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin (WCSB). As a result, when a customer requires a specific type of rig on a drilling location, Precision's logistical advantages generally enable Precision to deliver the right equipment more efficiently than competitors. Precision's equipment and crews have extensive experience operating in extreme weather conditions.
Precision operations are enhanced through internal manufacturing, rig up, maintenance & repair, and rig distribution & supply functions. These operating philosophies enable Precision to provide excellent service to and create value for our customers.
Precision has leveraged its internal manufacturing capabilities with feedback from our operating personnel to continue to provide innovations in drilling technology. These innovations help Precision to continue to build new and upgraded equipment that helps customers drill safe, predictable, repeatable wells and reduce risk in drilling programs.
The PD Super Single rig continues to set new benchmarks for safety and performance with automated pipe-handling and the ability of most of the rigs to operate from vertical or slant positions. The PD Super Single offers customers efficiency in horizontal drilling and rapid mobility and is considered by customers to be the best high-tech, multiple-purpose rig in its class in the world today.
The Precision advantage extends beyond equipment to the quality of our crews and the levels of training and support we provide all staff members.
Precision Drilling has an industry-leading health, safety and environment (HSE) initiative called Target Zero which places a premium on safe working practices. When coupled with Precision's other training and employee initiatives, these programs consistently yield top-quality personnel for Precision Drilling who exceed industry safety standards and customer expectations.
